Russell E. Flye, P.E.

Brother Flye was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He was educated in the St. Louis Diocese Catholic School System. Brother Flye graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST), formerly the University of Missouri – Rolla, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical in 1971 and Master of Science in Management Science at West Coast University in 1975. Brother Flye also has a Business Management Certificate from Golden Gate University and professional engineering licenses in the states of California, Nevada, and Washington. Russell E. Flye is employed by Washington River Protection Solutions, LLC as the HVAC/Ventilation Engineering Discipline Lead for the Tank Farm Project at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation near Richland, Washington. His responsibilities include review of codes and industry standards, compliance of complex engineering HVAC/Ventilation systems, engineering specifications, developing functional requirement documents and scope of work documents, and equipment procurement.

Brother Flye was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Epsilon Psi Chapter in 1968 at MST. Since graduating from MST Brother Flye has been an alumni member with Iota Zeta Lambda Chapter (Compton, CA), Theta Pi Lambda Chapter (Las Vegas, NV), and currently Nu Epsilon Lambda Chapter (Richland, WA). He has 44 years of service in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. with numerous leadership positions at the district, region, and national levels since his initiation.

Brother Flye is currently the Western Region Vice President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is an executive board member of the fraternity. He is responsible for the alumni and college chapters for the thirteen western states including Hawaii, Alaska, and he oversees an international chapter in Seoul, Korea.

In addition to his responsibilities as Western Region Vice President, Brother Flye is a board member of the Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers at MST, an active 4th Degree Knights of Columbus at the Parish of the Holy Spirit, and a volunteer for the Pasco School District.

Western Region Vice President Russell Flye is dedicated to improving the educational opportunities of minority students. He co-founded a male mentoring group in conjunction with the Pasco School District in the fall of 2001 to enhance the educational opportunities of minority junior high and high school students. Brother Flye is the chairman of an annual middle school essay contest and leads the scholarship committee to award scholarships to graduating minority students of the Pasco School District through the Nu Epsilon Lambda Foundation. He mentors and advises the college members who attend Washington State University and Eastern Washington University.

Brother Flye is married to Patricia Ann Flye and they have three adult children. Jabar is a manager of an auto service department’s sales in Las Vegas, NV.; Desiree’ is an attorney in Houston, TX and a member of the Texas Bar; and Rachel is currently an MBA student at the University of Houston in Houston, TX. Brother Flye is a committed family man, and a tireless community leader. Russell and Patricia started an endowed scholarship in January 2012 to assist African American students at MST.

Brother Flye has received numerous awards from his employers, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., MST Alumni Association, Knights of Columbus, and the Pasco School District. The Flye family believes that society has a moral obligation to enhance the opportunities of the less fortunate.
